Introduction

Chatham is now starting to see major physical change.

Work has begun on a two-year programme works that will deliver major road improvements and rid central Chatham of the Sir John Hawkins Flyover. Plans have been submitted for a striking new bus station on Globe Lane. This would be one of the most modern and efficient bus stations in Britain.
These infrastructure works will open up Chatham's centre and waterfront, creating an area ripe for investment.

Chatham has three key regeneration areas:

  • Chatham Waterfront
  • The Brook
  • Station Gateway (an area centred of Chatham train station)

  • The future of these areas - together with proposals for transport and public opens space - was the subject of six weeks of public consultation in May and July 2007. This process helped to shape the Supplemenatry Planning Document for Chatham.
