Tree-felling is taking place at four locations in Chatham to clear the way for a new high-tech bus station and a series of major road improvements.

Trees cleared from the site of the new Globe Lane bus station, given planning consent last month, will be replaced by semi-mature trees at a ratio of two to one.

Limited felling is also taking place at The Brook, Union Street and Queen Street. This clears the way for major road and public space improvements.

It’s the latest phase of work in a programme of massive investment in Chatham’s infrastructure. The new bus station, together with road and junction improvements and the creation of new public spaces, will pave the way for private sector investment in new homes, shops, cafes, bars and arts and entertainment venues.
